Summers Henderson edited this 34-minute documentary, along with director Jason Blalock. "Sawdust and Sand" explores the life and work of Doug Miller, one of the more interesting characters from Jason's hometown of Laguna Beach, California. While editing the film, Summers and Jason looked through tens of thousands of Doug's black and white photographs, which Doug has meticulously scanned for digital preservation -- although that is just a fraction of the 350,000 photos in his archive.
"Sawdust & Sand" screened at the American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs, the Newport Beach Film Festival, the Nevada City Film Festival, and the Laguna Art Museum. The film was also broadcast on KQED's "Truly California" documentary series throughout the state. You can watch the entire film here.
